I had diner at La Porte Sainte Claire Restaurant with a friend, we really enjoyed the terrasse, seeing the people walking around us and the view on the porte is lovely! I felt like a perfect tourist! One of my favourite place in the heart of Annecy Old Town.
The food is fresh, a mix of traditional food with an World/Asian touch.
I will recommend this lovely gourmet restaurant, its specialities are mussels, lake fishes and frog legs. The profiteroles are delicious!
The Chef Laurent Créa worked previously in Sénégal, Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Polynesia and Thailand. With his wife, they opened the restaurant in 1995.
I will recommend you to book your table at La Porte Sainte Claire Restaurant, specially during the summer!

The restaurant is also at the bottom of the Castle https://www.taxi-massingy.com/en/annecys-castle-and-legend/ in case you need a digestive walk up hill, the view is fantastic!
A little bit of history, the famous door, next to the restaurant is a reminder of the old couvent which used to be called Clarisses. The door is still in very good shape and used to be very important, as it was the entrance for people coming from Aix les Bains and Chambéry.
The Portes Sainte-Claire area is renowned for its picturesque charm and historical significance. Located near the heart of Annecy, it is characterized by quaint, narrow streets lined with medieval buildings that reflect the city’s rich heritage. The area features stunning canals and is situated close to the iconic Lake Annecy, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Visitors are drawn to the vibrant markets, artisan shops, and cozy cafés that populate the neighborhood. The nearby Palais de l’Isle, a former prison turned museum, adds to the allure of the district. With its blend of natural beauty and historical architecture, Portes Sainte-Claire is a must-visit destination for tourists exploring Annecy.
