Here is a post about my visit of 2 Cheese farms in Semnoz. First I visited the lovely GAEC Les Noisetiers (making AOP Abondance cheese) with cows.
We were welcomed by the Jacquot family, the summer farm is between the top of Semnoz (combe du Villard) and Leschaux (their winter home). The visit of the farm is in French (but quite easy to undersand) it lasts approximately one hour but you need to book in advance 0681083637 / 0650102539 or via the tourist office in Annecy.
The tour of the farm includes a cheese tasting, really good!! You can also show up from end of June until end of August at 16h30 for the milking of the cows.
You can just go there to buy cheese and local products as they also have a shop there.
If you are only here in the winter you can also book a tour during the winter in their farm in Leschaux.
I really enjoyed the visit and we felt very welcome as they are happy to share their passion with us!

The second farm was GAEC La Chévrerie d’Alex (AOP Chevrotin)
It is in Semnoz (1,5 km after the ski lift parking, take the road on the right “Chalet de l’Abbaye), they are there in June/July and August.
In the winter, they are in Alex (115 chemin de chantapot) between Menthon st Bernard Castle and Thônes.
There you will find goat cheeses, yogurts and goat cold cuts and pâté.
